in two of them she is binded to the dragon, my guess is its the traditional tale of rescuing the virgin from the dragon

Earliest versions had no maiden, but some Christian versions did. In one, she is the daughter of the king of a city Silene. She puts her girdle on the dragon and it becomes meek...Then Georgy tells the ppl he will slay it if they all convert, and of course they all do.
