I remember to see an illustration from XVI war manual depicting cats with urns attached at its back. It is suppoussed to be an idea to launch cats with bombs over the enemy castle walls...
-
I believe they actually did something similar with rats. They fastened tinder to their backs and lit them on fire before releasing them. They would panic and try to run and hide and get inside the walls and burn the whole place down.
-
Romans used pigs in flames as weapons against big war animals, machines and buildings. In middle age were used in tunnels to heat and destroy the mortar of walls and other buildings of sieged castles, demolishing them. Mistreat of animals have been a constant in warfare.
