Pretty simple. When people watch you live they feel less enticed to watch a replay. But when you don't stream they watch something to fill the void. And then they continue watching your videos in succession. Then the videos start "trending".

Wish it was that simple, but nope - None of my stream VODs go public and not everybody watches for the streams.

Either way. Simple fix for this for youtube would be to count every viewer that views your stream for a set amount of time (average video length?) as a "view". And then pump that into their algorythm for promoting your channel. If that makes sense.
