    This WSJ op-ed "Hate Crime Hoaxes Are More Common Than You Think" is nonsense and incredibly irresponsible Per , who tracks hate crimes closely, of the 7,175 hate crimes reported in 2017 , just 23 turned out to be fake. Thats 0.3%

    “There is no shortage of individuals & entities with a vested interest in exaggerating racial tensions in the U.S.” A look into the shocking & indisputable fact that the number of hate crime hoaxes is much larger than what we’ve been told.

    A minute ago, I shared a Vice article about nudity and deepfakes, but the images gave me pause. While it is an important article, I deleted the tweet because these women did not consent to be depicted in this way. This raises another question about how to report on vicious tech?

    Decriminalizing migration should be part of every dem candidate’s platform tbh

    My immigration plan -- the first in the field -- would decriminalize migration. We cannot criminalize desperation, like that of Oscar and Valeria, and children who are detained apart from their parents.

    Great graphics. US Democrats have gone from being a center-right to a center-left party; the GOP from a right-wing party to an extreme right-wing party, closer to Germany's neo-Nazis than to the global center.

    I’d receive months of abuse and threats if a right winger wrote about me. What scared me was so often racists would also attack my family. Ive had hate mail sent to my parents address. Im not as brave as I got scared. I shut up. I feared my own and my families safety.

    And the abuse and the fear makes you shut up for your safety. Last year I copped it heavy from Bolt, News Corp and all of those other blunt angles. Everything I wrote (plays, tv, tweets) got column space which would then result in being posted on far right racists websites.

    I think sometimes folks think I’m overegging the idea that Aus is unsafe for me. I mean, I myself sometimes wonder if I’m over egging it. Maybe it’s not so bad, I think. And then, I’m reminded that even tho the incidents of 2017 were years ago, people seem to not forget.

    Periodista estadounidense esta siendo detenido en el aeropuerto de Tegucigalpa. Llevaron su pasaporte.

    I'm being detained at the airport in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. No reason given after an hour. They told me I couldn't use my phone but then came back and said I could. They still have my passport.
