What an amazing idea - explorable videos! I'd love to see this done for simpler things!https://twitter.com/3blue1brown/status/1055859641689636864 …

Haha, so would I. The fact that it happened for quaternions was somewhat accidental.
-
Wow! All your "Essence" series in this format, and while doing that, develop an editing interface, you've got a platform. Imagine other maths people getting ahold of a generalized version of this.

Or at least, a certain someone with the last name Khan.

One bit of negative feedback I would have is that the last sequence seems a lot less polished than the other ones. By that point I had enough context to understand what you were demonstrating, but it did feel a lot less prepared and directed than the previous sequences.

The original video on quaternions was great, but this is nothing short of amazing. Truly inspiring to see teaching and outreach in mathematics done right!

cool, I remember that the video was in Python, then the exchangeable video should be JavaScript. Is it open source, can it be found on GitHub?

OH MY GOD finally quaternions will not be awful Cthulhu-esque mystery orbs

This is fantastic! The ability to play with these settings myself helped a ton with understanding the actual mechanics behind all those systems.
-
I do have a bit of a problem though: The angle visualization for 3D rotation seems to be broken on my end. When I switch to angle form, clicking on any of the variables brings it back to non-angle form.
-
Seems to be the case on all the explorables, whether I've paused the video or not. I also tried refreshing without success.

This is one of the best things I have ever seen, period.

Awesome explanations and tools around quaternions !

Oh hey small question: Is it accurate to say that not only the two circles of rotation are perpendicular, but that they are also parallel? It seems to me like every point on one circle is equidistant from every point on the other circle, and that they never meet.

This is a really unique interaction method. The video with live interaction was a bit challenging at first.
