Shoplifting and burglary are charged and pled to interchangeably. In fact, a lot of shoplifting is actually charged even under Chesa as burglary.

Anyone who reads this who works in the CJS is laughing at your tweet right now. You should delete the one about burglary and theft. That’s good advice. But also, I am no longer going to engage w you bc I don’t deal w name-calling, esp when I actually know what I’m talking about

generally the people making claims have to back them up better than "my friend told me so"

yes and that's what Adam is doing dipshit. Journalists keep printing assholes claiming shoplifting is closing businesses when no one can even prove that. We're just taking someone's word for that. Jfc.

Lol, no that's exactly what he's not doing. All he did was say "other stores closed" and "hey look at this wage theft case".

again you didn't read the article. the corporation isn't claiming it was shoplifting. and none of these other closed stores are claiming it was shoplifting. theres literally no evidence that these stores closed because of shoplifting which is very apparent in the article.

They literally said they are. They made a presentation to city council and California passed an organized retail crime bill as a result.
