Pinnipeds can indeed catch COVID so that’s the likely reason. Very unlikely to actually happen outdoors (it’s airborne dammit!) but the powers that be are slow on the uptake on that topic in particular.

Well, go be fair, think that’s bc ppl normally can only go to that beach in a group w a tour guide during breeding. They kept most of the park open, just shut the one activity where people were in groups for extended periods.

Breeding season is over, though, and the guided walks stop March 31st. The self-guided viewing area is shut down.
