Car ownership is a concrete benefit in almost all circumstances, including where transit and walkability are both excellent--let's get transit and walkability right and then let people figure out car ownership for themselves

Oversized streets, on the other hand, are costly and make life more difficult even for car owners--nobody benefits there

there isn't enough room for the cars we have on the currently oversized streets

most of the streets we have are empty most of the time; moreover I don't know of any cities which have "enough" room for their cars whether they go for wide OR narrow streets--people use the streets the have as much as they can
