Raised 2 armies of 50k men each--one in Japan and the other in Burma--then started a 1-year naval build-up only to be interrupted 100 days into it by a war summons, bc my ally Commonwealth decided to attack Scandinavia

Update: Commonwealth got to most of my targets before my troops even showed up (it was, in their defense, a very long way). So I occupied a few stray territories then signed an early peace with Scandinavia giving me control of Kola, Finnmark, and Hålogaland.

Picked up a few more vassals, cut Tarascan loose for piracy (hoping my colony in Mexico will deal w them eventually), and once Scandinavia and Commonwealth are done fighting I'll see if Scandinavia wants to pay tribute too.

I'm freeing it from the Swedes! Assuming the Poles don't get there first (they already have Riga and the rest of Latvia)
-
The Swedish rule is considered one of the better times in our history :D But, ok, get rid of the Poles though
-
O-oh...the Poles are, uh, my allies here
-
It wouldn't be the first time in Europe that someone suddenly starts to attack their allies...

Things have changed a lot since I played last. I love them new mission system. Much better than "draw three, pick one"

You can actually be goal oriented now. I'm playing as Scotland->Great Britain, and I invaded the low countries just to monopolize the English Channel. It's also nice that I don't have to pray for a lucky draw to get gud claims on France
