I think one of the problems with public transit and walkability is most americans dont get a chance to experience what its like living without a car and walking/taking a train/bus to work and not feeling poor. nothing to compare car culture too.

Pretty much this--transit in USA is so awful that nobody who has any choice bothers with it, and people who DO ride it are looking for an alternative ASAP

tfw when no "walkability scholarship" funded by consortium of car hating billionaires for middle america to live in places like DC for 6 months to experience walking around.
