There's no operating a network that is obliged to prioritize coverage over ridership "more smartly," but if you really want to give RTAs permission to go after ridership, make it official policy at the state level so we don't get sued to pieces by our existing riders

Also hard to believe I'm reading that MBTA is looking at reducing fares for people closer to commuter rail stations--you know, those who already have the fewest obstacles to accessing them. Never mind that the commuter rail is ALREADY losing money and is in no place to cut fares!
