What car people say isn't that trains should be illegal, but that they should never be built where they don't exist, or improved where they do exist. The argument, every time, is that since you can't make *every* trip by train, there's no reason to make *any.*https://twitter.com/drethelin/status/976168843197415426 …

Yes, that would be more accurate. Although I think the # of people who drive for fun is a pretty small minority, comparatively. I wonder how much people's standard of living would increase, all other things being equal, if car was removed from equation.
-
Don't think of it as a subset of PEOPLE that drive for fun--it is a subset of TRIPS that are made for fun.

Taking a road trip, a day trip, driving around town w friends, etc etc
-
sure, I get what you're saying. We could parse it further. Some trips, the car itself is the point. I'm currently (literally, right now) working on a project on lowriders, so cruising is important. For others its the destination, and car is best/most fun way to get there
-
Exactly--my crusade is to try and communicate to people that "best" and "most fun" might have a bit more meaning if not for also being "only"
-
Indeed. Keep fighting the good fight amigo. Also, did I tell you I bought a motorcycle?
-
yooo you should post pics! hadn't heard, any plans for taking it out this summer?
-
I have convinced the guy I rent from/live with to let me keep it in garage. Its been in storage since January. Hopefully getting it out this week. Going to ride it as much as I can.
