I dislike absolute single-form solutions to urbanism. This particular one overlooks playspace for children and accessibility for those with mobility challenges. Humanity is complex and is best served by multiple solutionshttps://twitter.com/380kmh/status/975695153699704832 …

I don't think
@380kmh is implying that every inch of every city should be designed this way. In fact, I think the entire point of his tweet is that this is just one way we can do density differently than tall, concrete boxes.1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -

Maybe - and I wouldn't disagree with that - but it wasn't obvious when he stated that towers (he calls hives) are for insectshttps://twitter.com/380kmh/status/975711058668204034?s=20 …

We'll, I won't presume to put words in his mouth then. But do you think towers are unequivocally better in terms of play spaces for children though? It's anecdotal, but most towers I've lived in are awful at allocating play space/community space.

Though to be fair, I think that is more due to the particular designs. Towers *could* be better about community space for sure, but most don't seem to be.

My tower is old and has a pool but not other community spaces. Thankfully there are a variety of amenities in our neighbourhood. For me commercial space is less valuable than parks, schools, and festivals (although I do enjoy a variety of restaurants)

Was your main objection to the first pic that it was too commercial?

No. I like the image. I think it is a great solution, but not intrinsically better than other solutions. I don't like simple answers. Sorry we got off to a bad start
