Yes, at about 18,500 per sq mi vs Boston's 13k or Chicago's 12k But Somerville MA has about 18,500/sqmi as well, and places like Hoboken NJ are much higher (39k/sqmi, higher than Brooklyn's 35k). Manhattan is the densest in USA at nearly 70k/sqmi Tokyo's 23 wards avg 39k/sqmi

The suburb of Tokyo I used to live in (Machida) has a current density around 15,800/sqmi, although it was a bit lower when I lived there in the early 90s

this figure includes a lot of open space tho, if you draw the line around my specific neighborhood (Shinkoji), then the density jumps to over 27k/sqmi

it's funny how much population density changes depending on where you draw the border--Northampton MA has a density of 834/sqmi. But the apartment I live in is about 35x25 feet (840 square feet, 1680 total since it has two floors)...

...since there are three occupants including myself, and since population density figures don't take floor area into account, only land area, the density of my apartment is 3 people per 840 square feet, or about 99,600 people per square mile

of course, if you include the front and back yard, it drops to about 1/4 of that figure--and if you look at the density of the apartment complex as a whole, it drops much lower because of parking lots, open space, and roads
