The suburb of Tokyo I used to live in (Machida) has a current density around 15,800/sqmi, although it was a bit lower when I lived there in the early 90s

this figure includes a lot of open space tho, if you draw the line around my specific neighborhood (Shinkoji), then the density jumps to over 27k/sqmi

it's funny how much population density changes depending on where you draw the border--Northampton MA has a density of 834/sqmi. But the apartment I live in is about 35x25 feet (840 square feet, 1680 total since it has two floors)...
