Isn't the point of this system (the Boring system?) not to be a form of mass transit, but for people who are already using their private vehicles (or using them in some form) to get around more quickly? In a city as diffuse as LA, doesn't a system like that make more sense?

But isn't the advantage in Japan (don't know from experience, haven't been yet, but would like to go) is that as soon as I step off a train, I'd be within walking distance of almost everything I'd want to see/do? LA requires you to have a car for almost everything.
