Terrible idea. You'd just condense the mess! The whole point of closer stations is to disperse riders better. They need more TPH to deal with the crowds.

The distance between Park and DTX isn't the problem it's the crowds that keep the trains sitting in the station longer. Having one station instead of two would keep the trains waiting even longer.

Would it be possible to have 4 doors per car side to speed up exiting and boarding though?

Oh sh*t they are the same length basically. Yes there is definitely no reason for them to have only 3 doors

This is another case of trying to do something for cheap that will backfire and waste money when the obvious choice, albeit more expensive, is right there. Red-Blue connection first then GL to South Station.
