Reducing the number of trips people CAN take will reduce the number that they WILL take. Charging more for trips doesn't necessarily have the same effect. Unfortunately it's a political nightmare to raise fares, so PVTA is suggesting a very timid 25% increase...and service cuts.
I will be amazed if the 25% fare increase offsets the lost fares resulting from drastic cuts in service aka number of possible trips...so we're gonna be staring at even more severe cuts in future. NO GOOD!
