Haunted Forrest 🌲 @380kmhExample: this is the listing of weekday inbound departure times for Machida Station on the Odakyu Line. Geographically speaking, this is "commuter rail" in American terms. The station has four tracks, but is on a two-track segment of the Odakyu Line. pic.twitter.com/ZUIpi4NNvbShow this thread1 reply 0 retweets 0 likesShow this thread -

Haunted Forrest 🌲 @380kmhwow weird crazy how this keeps happening...it's as though demand for frequent trains is very high even among suburbanites who have to drive all the way to Braintree to get it...do you think they'd use commuter rail if there were more than 7 inbound trains between 5:45 and now? https://twitter.com/MBTA/status/958682739632373761 …Show this thread1 reply 0 retweets 0 likesShow this thread -

Haunted Forrest 🌲 @380kmhI'm very happy to hear about the improved punctuality of the Worcester Line, but it should be remembered that punctuality is still less useful to commuters than frequency: https://commonwealthmagazine.org/transportation/worcester-line-performance-improves-dramatically/ …Show this thread1 reply 0 retweets 2 likesShow this thread -

Haunted Forrest 🌲 @380kmhBoston transit priorities in no particular order: - Stations, vehicles, etc must be CLEAN and in good repair - Lighter trains on Red, Orange, Blue lines - Infrastructure in good repair - Dedicated bus lanes + transit-favoring traffic lights - Commuter rail to subway standardsShow this thread1 reply 0 retweets 3 likesShow this thread
Broadly speaking for all transit:
- prioritize ridership
- prioritize farebox recovery
The greater the extent to which it pays its own way, the more transit can be provided!
