40,000 bodies a year aren't enough to convince Americans of the value of alternatives to cars, and that's a much steeper blood sacrifice than they're paying for the right to own guns--figure it out #مرگ بر آمریکاhttps://twitter.com/GabbyGiffords/status/963928313684221957 …

The accounts from today's school shooting in Parkland, Florida strike fear into all Americans. Is it safe to send our kids to school? Are we safe in our homes and communities?

My favorite is when they speed up for marked pedestrian crosswalks because they want to clear them before I'm far enough into the street for them to stop

What city do you live in. Here in genteel Victoria, drivers sometimes stop, crosswalk or no crosswalk, if you look like you might be thinking about crossing.

That's why it's best to install traffic islands. And if there's more than one lane per direction, then traffic lights are the only solution.

Terrible for the disabled, elderly, parents and cyclists. I hate having pedestrians change levels. It's the cars that should do that

I think they should be used only on highway, railway crossings (with ramps) or at railway stations (with lifts). Elsewhere they just make the city worse.pic.twitter.com/J57vrzZ5PH

plus, due to the height clearance, it's best to have the high/railway elevated and make an underpass. Then pedestrians and cyclists can have minimal height difference. And cyclists can get back up the slope with inertiapic.twitter.com/tWn7mA1rwu

Started walking a few miles to work every day, already confronted multiple drivers, have accepted that one of them will likely shoot me after I throw a rock at their car.

today a Fedex truck gunned it turning right through the crosswalk, apparently only to send me a message that i was walking too slow. missed me by several inches. pretty much every day--in "walkable" NYC.
