That’s an interesting take.. freeway structures and interchanges in LA are notably more compact that counterparts in the east and Midwest, as is development against the freeway (to say nothing of the quantity of freeways)
I wasn't thinking of freeways or interchanges, but ordinary residential streets etc--the stuff that makes up like 90% of a road network in terms of centerline mileage. Also, I didn't mean to single out LA specifically here, bc the wide street problem is all over the USA
This is true. Neighborhood streets in my hood are 5 lanes: parking on each side, lanes of travel and enough space to fit a center lane if they wanted
