Serious request: would you be so kind as to give three reasons why you passionately advocate for trains and railways?

1. They are a uniquely spacious way to travel--you can walk around on them, sit or stand, eat, drink 2. They make incredibly busy and complicated cities easy to traverse and explore 3. They provide views of your country that you can't get anywhere else
-
Excellent. Thanks. I recall reading somewhere that trains are also incredibly resource efficient (fuel/space requirements) compared to cars/trucks. Is that true? To an intelligent - yet minimally informed- layman, such as myself, it would seem so superficially, at least.
-
Yes, with some variation involved based on occupancy and motor system
-
Meaning it would comparatively be less useful for small towns and the like. Is that correct?
-
Yes exactly
-
I’d argue the need for stations serving national railways to ship goods (livestock springs to mind) by beyond that I see your point perfectly.

Your tweets about non-Japanese trains remind me not to take Japanese trains for granted.
