Imagine an arrival on track 4 same time as a departure from track 3.
Imagine never being uncertain of which track a train will arrive on or depart from!
I do to have to imagine. I just go to NY Penn Station.
South Station in Boston has the same problem afaik--it really undermines the purpose of dedicated infrastructure when there are so many ways that trains can get thrown out of schedule (leading to track conflicts etc)
Which is my main reason for bringing Hanshin up here--to show that we are being incredibly wasteful w infrastructure that we DO have; we must do a better job with reliability!
