Yeah but if he thinks genetics are exactly equal between the rich and the poor he isn't thinking. The only way that could be is if genes had 0% input into intelligence or personality. Bad assumptions -> bad conclusions.

I'd say it only implies this under assumption "happiness = non-depression". But this is not true. Likewise, depression =/= unhappiness. Lots of people are unhappy, but not depressed.
