In its glory days (the late 80s/early 90s) BART was awesome. Quieter, clean, comfortable. But now it feels like what I imagine the Galactic Empire from Star Wars would have for a transit system. Futuristic, brutalist, and worn out.

BART is so loud you can’t even hear audio using headphones. A grating, headache inducing metal-on-rusted-metal screeching that makes you wonder if you’re in the midst of a derailment or maybe the wheels are made of fingernails sliding along a giant blackboard track.
