I'm not sure if thats the peak but that is what you get when you search for departures on random weekdays in February, so I think its got to be fairly representative.

The Shinkansen services really are just in another league compared to everywhere else. I thought the Tokkaido line has a larger ridership than all of the other high speed lines in the world? Yonah Freemark has an article from 2011 saying TGV ridership over 30 yrs was 1.7 billion.
