oh sure, I was talking about the small differences in top speed btw Shinkansen and EUHSR, which don't make a big difference for riders. In USA, tho, we don't even have anything in that category

Trains in Germany are usually expensive, if you want to ride cheap you have to buy your ticket early. I can get from Stuttgart to Berlin in 6 hours which is around the same time I need in my car if the traffic is good

but that's mostly because it has so many stops. I can go from Strasbourg to Paris in under 2 hours which takes several more by car, the train has speeds of 320km/h

On average the Shinkansen timetables are more robust compared to their European counterparts. AVE averages 19 trains Madrid-Barcelona, 30 TGV from Paris-Lyon, ~22 Thalys from Brussels-Paris, 17 direct ICE from Berlin to Munich etc.
