Real talk: you are the religion you were born into and you are powerless to change this. "Conversions" are performance art. Major historical conversions are just rebrandings of native faithhttps://twitter.com/Kierkebard/status/950881830961528832 …

There was a brief period of time, one you might remember, when I thought I was Catholic. And then another, shorter period where I thought I was Orthodox. I feel many are stuck in that same position, trying to find a denomination that suits them. I think that is a mistake.

You might be likely to stay within your religion, more likely to gravitate around that religion, but to altogether claim conversions aren't possible has to be false. There's just too much evidence to the contrary

Its a view irreconcilable with the faith. How are we to interpret the command to baptize all nations, if their baptism is an elaborate game of pretend. Seems pretty out of touch with reality as well for those who are or know any real converts.

I feel this isn't true for universalist religions such as Christianity, Islam or Buddhism but is true for ethnic religions such as Judaism, Hinduism or Shinto.

It is possible to "go back" to ethnic religion after growing up universalist, but it looks more like "reacquaintance" or "reacquisition" than "(re)conversion."

Have to disagree unless I'm misreading you. Unless there is a real imparting of grace that can transform anyone, Jesus' claim to bind the new vine of the gentiles to the root of Israel is false
