More trainsets, yes. And yes, the weight wouldn't change much without a change in our ill-conceived crash safety regulations, but this is more about the number of powered axles that are gripping the track

Eh, I wouldn’t discount some of the crash regs, but we’ve disagreed on that before. Something like the KiHa 25s are about 40t, so pretty equivalent to an amfleet car. I don’t think there is an unpowered equivalent on JR...
