A common reaction I get when saying that people should walk more and take transit more is "I don't want to get rid of my car," even though there's no need to get rid of your car to walk or take transit. The idea of having real choice in transportation is alien in USA...

There was more demand for that stuff when we were poorer and prosperity was less disbursed. The Left in Minneapolis doesn’t even deny anymore that they are trying to force people on to trains. IMO, the bike lanes do no net good.
