just take note that this is the largest city in Brazil and the areas served by the subway are not so bad, there are still many many social problems and poverty, like you see in those favelas. Still it's not like some Somalian anarchy lol

at least the subways here are quite safe from what I hear. Though in the trains you may have some problems at the more suburban areas

You know, honestly I'm surprised it's not more of a problem here, I've never seen it personally or really even in the press (I'm sure it happens, but with the outrage culture you'd think it would be talked about if it happened a significant amount)
