as architecturally implausible as they are, one thing I love about Imperial Boy's cityscapes is that they actually look like, you know, SOCIETY there are shops, there are workers, there are improvisations and decorations, there are cheap structures and ornate ones, etc etcpic.twitter.com/HXT1z4ZG9G
most important of all, they focus on how the city looks *from the perspective of the people who live in it*
The sterile glass renderings earlier in the thread suggest an artist who 1) doesn't understand why people live in cities, and/or 2) doesn't understand what people do for fun
Seoul Tower isn't a residential structure tho, also if Songdo is mostly empty then mayb Korea loves building this shit more than Koreans love living in it
my bad--it's hard to be sure online
"We need our cities to be a place for people who hate cities." Which is basically American urban planning practice of the last century.
So you're telling me the Urbanite has been Crushing himself all this time?
more that most ppl living in cities here don't want to live in cities and that, in a vicious cycle, makes the cities themselves worse to live in for everyone
And of course, when they move out of the cities they make the suburbs and then the countryside shittier, bc suddenly they have to make it like the cities they just left.
my use of "cities" includes suburbs of cities, since suburbs don't just pop up in isolation
Suburbs are expelled detritus of cities. Dead, with nothing good of the surrounding countryside in them.
Would the urbanites please just stop exporting their misery one more exit down the highway.
It's not urbanites, it's people who shouldn't have moved to the city to begin with. Then they move to the suburbs to spite themselves.
