high level wooden platform in good state of repair is dignified tho
compare w first pics in thread...a crumbling curb at the train's wheel level that disintegrates into a mud puddle at one end, a patch of tar between the tracks so that boarding blocks any passing trains...
Platforms are a very touching topic for me, because Latvian railways totally disrespects passenger infrastructure, so a wooden high platform would definitely be an improvement :D But at least we don't make passengers stand on the tracks or make it 0cm high :Dpic.twitter.com/2TpPHYQfVo
my understanding is that it is no longer allowed to build mini-his to satisfy ada and mass access board requirements at CR platforms. The cost of the current designs are up for question tho.
Aren't they rebuilding Mansfield with just a mini-high?
They bitched and moaned at the FTA to get a grandfather variance.
How much did the mini wood platforms at Northampton and Greenfield cost? That would be a good start in a lot of places. I bet they can even be moved.
(this is a serious question btw--I see now the NoHo platform is being expanded to 120' and I haven't been able to track down a cost)https://trainsinthevalley.org/infrastructure-northampton/ …
This article has a disagreement over whether it was $700k or "way less"http://www.masslive.com/news/index.ssf/2014/12/post_554.html …
