We care about nothing anymore because we are forced to live as though we don't. To truly care about our privacy, or the environment, or the future of anything we ought to hold dear would terrify and alienate us, because we are compelled to be implicated in its destruction.

distributed agency is the common thread of Protestantism, capitalism, democracy, etc etc; it's frustrating bc when agency is so broadly distributed you're always reminded of the fact that you can do SOMETHING and the something you can do is always pitifully impotent
