with my current game in the mid 1750s, I'm down to the wire for any last campaigns...I've moved half my army into the Americas to punish New Castille for stealing land from one of my colonial nations; the other half is on the steppes ready to attack Kazakh

Problem is that New Castille has much better weapons than me; even when I outnumber them 3 to 1 I can easily lose...so I'm aiming to outnumber them 10 to 1 or more *other* problem is that if I attack them, a global web of alliances gets set off

So, I probably need to decide on Kazakh *or* Castille, and I'll prob go with the latter. If I'm not occupied in the steppes, I can pull those forces back to Japan to prepare for amphibious Euro attacks

All that said, I'm gearing up for my next game...gotta try and compress the timeline in the early game and take the utmost care not to lag in development. May have to buy DLC to make this more practical (ie, so I can use "national focus" in admin points)

As many institutions as possible need to spawn in Japan instead of in Europe, otherwise the handicap is overwhelming. And I gotta gotta gotta resist the temptation to get on land in Asia (except Kamchatka) until mid-to-late game

You can get a hell of an empire on islands alone: Japan + Ryukyu + Taiwan + Sakhalin + Kuril + Jeju = 50 provinces Indonesia + Philippines + Australia + Hainan = 124 provinces NZ + Pacific Islands (including Galapagos but not Aleutians or Pac NW) = 30 provinces 204 total
