Amtrak used to be able to just add trains. We need to get back to that paradigm.

No dispute. Until the issue of trying to privatize rail & +investment in Amtrak is no longer a hot potato issue in D.C., anything can happen

Funny thing is, Amtrak actually is private, stock owned by BNSF, CN, CP and American Financial Group. RR's used to nominate board in 70's.

Yes-ish but the government holds the preferred stock with voting power. The private companies have the common stock but your right overall.
