I kid, I kid but the title is extremely misleading, there is extremely little planning of transit routes at my job--that's mostly preset
in practice it means writing the reports that the state requires of a transit agency every time someone working there sneezes

One of my most regular tasks in the past few years has been sending monthly reports to the state re: accidents and breakdowns of buses
-
Usually transit planning decisions are made elsewhere (eg, the huge budget cuts we got hit with this year) and the consequences left to us
-
Consequences = "what if you guys had a few million fewer dollars this year? how many people would be affected?"
