Cape Cod Canal needs over 100 feet of vertical clearance but is only 30-something feet deep...and they went with a rail *bridge?*

Raising or swiveling bridges for trains are only acceptable when you're assuming very low rail traffic...rebuilding MA railways must address

Cape Cod is an easy case for a tunnel, in other areas maybe a higher bridge would work--but no more of this sometimes-open nonsense

Btw...don't forget that MU trains can handle much steeper grades than loco-hauled. Very useful in making higher-clearance bridges!
