I will need to cut some of the destinations to be able to properly enjoy time in the others...
-
-
-
...and there are other things I need to work out (eg I haven't planned on much to do in Kyoto despite booking several nights there)
-
lest you think I'm completely insane, the reasoning behind booking an extended stay there was to use it as a base for all of West Japan
-
It's drift, clearly. Don't plan more than you have to.

Why these specifically? (Just curious)
-
Some are pretty landscapes, some are interesting city neighborhoods, some are train stations or train routes, some are historic landmarks
-
That's a more ambitious itinerary than even Japanese school trips.

answer: no (but I will trim it until it can!)
-
Obvious cuts would be Aomori/Hokkaido, then Shikoku.
-
I will prob cut Aomori (specifically, the Tsugaru Railway), but no way I'm cutting Shikoku or Hakodate
-
Izumo Taisha is a bit out of the way. It's on the list for my next trip but I'm pagan and adore Shinto...
-
yes, it's next on the chopping block...I have no worries about it going anywhere before my next chance to visit

How many of these locations/sights are rail-related?
-
about half of them (some, despite being point markers instead of lines, indicate a particular train ride)
