Fairfield County NIMBYism is annoying for sure but am I the only train guy on here who didn't like the bypass proposals?

first thing is that you don't need to get downtown first; you can usually just go straight to the station--by train, bus, cab, driving...
-
second thing is the advantages of going by Shinkansen usually outweigh any difficulty in getting to the station

haha, yes. I'm more wondering whether it'd be used more if the stations were downtown
-
Maybe it would, but it's been pretty successful so far either way--huge increases in tourist traffic for rural cities with outlying stops

eg. Aomori and Hakodate

Cool! Ok, then maybe it's not so bad. I'm surprised of the Okutsugaru-Imabetsu Station which is basically nowhere
