I don't have strong feelings once you're south of NYC, but between there and Boston I want a 90% greenfield HSR alignment

Not this half-and-half bullshit
-
I think part of the problem is people are expecting a high-speed NE corridor to make up for a generally modernized one w supporting network
-
Which is why they're trying to get it to run through downtown Providence, New Haven, etc...
-
A greenfield alignment like I have in mind presupposes a modern, general-purpose passenger rail system surrounding it
-
Instead of stopping at Providence, for example, it would pass through Woonsocket, a quick ride to Providence or Worcester from there...
-
...via conventional rail. And viola! now Worcester *and* Providence are served, instead of just one
-
Bear in mind that the Shinkansen does this all the time! Some such stops don't even *have* connecting rail lines
-
But as for ones which do? Hakodate, Aomori, Yokohama, Fuji, Gifu...hell, OSAKA ITSELF falls into this category

@alon_levy has had his quibbles too. I'm not wedded to any single alignment but it's clear the NIMBY goal is to kill anything. -
for sure--they would be just as angry about what I have in mind
-
Glad Alon has issues with them too, though
