15 minute frequencies + mixed traffic and you can still get better results than hourly frequencies + dedicated ROW...take note...

What happens when you electrify the Needham Line and dramatically boost its frequency? How high can we push those numbers?

Just for a sense of scale--Boston's Blue Line hits 11,253 boards per mile. London's Victoria Line = 42,031 b/mi.

          Tokyo's Chiyoda Line = 75,425 b/mi Hong Kong's Tsuen Wan Line = 105/830 b/mi I expect that's close to the upper bound for a single line

Lexington Ave (456<6>) has much higher passenger density than any Tokyo Metro line, at 153,493/mile. No wonder they're building 2nd Ave!

how'd you figure out the passenger density? Paris RER A I think is close to Lex Ave density & its commuter rail!

I found (on wiki I think) ridership by trunk line; sum of boards for each stop on Lex Ave line

Most subway lines in Tokyo are also "commuter rail," it is not a useful distinction for ridership potential

A lot of Paris' RER lines are more like NYC express subway lines; Paris Metro covers a small area with tiny stop spacing

the "Blue Bullet". I live on it! We get 1 train per 100s at peak times now, new peak due to better signals that allow closer operation
