Transit is already far ahead of private vehicles in terms of electrification--and it's ahead in terms of autonomous operation as well.

...moving from trains--where they're already common--on to buses, then on to smaller vehicles. Transit leads, the rest follow.

The first really viable autonomous cars will be adjuncts to a transit system--paratransit, circulators, shuttles, feeders etc
