Out of curiosity, does Chicago actually have its shit together? I'd be surprised if The NY Times wasn't just trying to make Rahm look good.

Considering the murder rate and their general disfunction, If Rahm hasn't messed up the trains too I don't think he has much control over it
-
Good for them if it works though, that'd be nice, I'd love to know the details.
-
I will say I remember The NY Times gushing about DC's metro a few years back, so I'm sceptical of their reporting on this stuff in general.
-
That's fair--but the problem here isn't the article, it's the guy's reaction (which was premised on the article being accurate)
-
Yeah I agree he's a dick. I understand why he doesn't like seeing Emmanuel acting like a winner though.
-
Also I'm pretty sure Chicago's line is entirely elevated,so its a lot easier to do repairs and harder to build new lines(city planning wise)
-
It's not entirely elevated

God forbid the article tell the truth about how Chicago El fell apart worse than NYCT or WMATA.
-
...did it? I'm hearing better on time performance, rebuilt lines, etc...
-
10 years ago CTA was in worse straits than NYCT and WMATA. They literally had to shut lines down for months one end reconstruction.
-
Oh, you meant in the past--but since then they dropped some $8 billion into fixing those problems, which (afaik) did the trick
-
They're a model of underfund maintenance, let a vast crisis develop, then drop 5x more money to rebuild then if maintained all along.
