I know of a plan to get 8 daily round trips between Northampton and Brattleboro (or maybe just Greenfield) w/in a few years, this is new thohttps://twitter.com/sandypsj/status/879702531793985536 …
The track setup needn't be an obstacle if they could just settle for letting the train reverse direction at Springfield
-
-
That is, instead of reversing to back out of Springfield then resuming the initial direction once they've backed all the way up

does the Vermonter normally have 2 engines? I noticed that, wondering if it's for the reversing
-
If I'm not mistaken it's always had a front and rear engine--not sure if it's for reversing or not. Needs to be MUs but you already knew
-
MUs I associate with short-distance rail not 100s of miles, but I suppose it could work.
-
Japan started using EMUs for long distance intercity rail in 1958, and DMUs in 1960.
-
The last trains to use locomotives in daily service were overnight sleepers, today only charter trains and Seven Stars In Kyushu use them
