Anyone know what this mystery ROW feature cutting straight across the Arcadia sanctuary south of Northampton is? @380kmhpic.twitter.com/bkkKmTCLPC

@epc The canal ran to the west, along the Manhan River. I thought it was that initially though.

Maybe there's a buried pipeline or some such but the land doesn't seem hospitable to that. The power lines turn east, not south.
hmmm....a former rail alignment? maybe an old road?
Those are my best guesses but it wasn't a steam railroad and no old roads show up on maps...I need a good map of interurbans/street railways
There was a CT Valley St. Railway/Northampton St. Railway line to Easthampton, but I can't find a good map. Oh well, a project!
It's a serious structure—so straight, have to assume a very old rail line, maybe bringing clay to a brickworks?pic.twitter.com/oxfYYYmsza
