would u recommend massachusetts as a place to live, esp in a more rural/small town type setting?

If you can handle dramatic seasonal differences in temperature, then I think you can find a part of MA that you'd enjoy living in

I can recommend busy cities, stately suburbs, sunny farm towns, remote hill towns, you name it!

for the former--try Sunderland, Hatfield, Northfield, Hadley (well...most of Hadley) for the latter--try Warwick, Blandford, Middlefield...

You missed all the Berkshires. Great Barrington, Stockbridge, Lee, Lenox for small towns. The rest are mostly hilltowns.

I wouldn't call those towns very small...especially compared to other towns in the Berkshires. They're nicer than Pittsfield tho for sure.
