Hey @neipate96 have you seen this? Data on UMass Amherst faculty living+commuting situations. http://people.umass.edu/misra/Joya_Misra/work-life_files/CommuteReport%20final.pdf …
...anyone commuting from Hadley or Northampton during summer and winter vacations has to pay normal fare
-
-
normal fare is about $35/month so still not bad. I'd just bike most of the summer anyway and the low no-school frequency is annoying.
-
I've been making use of my bike now that it's finally road-ready again, but last summer I was a bit more cooped up...
-
Also, $35/mo must be for round trip weekday commuting only w/o transfers, no? A monthly pass is $45
-
I've never bought one; I bike too much for a monthly to be worth it
-
Makes sense. I usually buy them because my commute is to Springfield, which means 4 bus rides every day
-
I met a UMass employee that did Holyoke -> Northampton -> UMass. There's a direct Holyoke to UMass bus now, but it's infrequent
-
@ofsevit oh this is all bringing me back to the PVTA system plan I helped with for my transit planning class in grad school.

It's worse than that. Many of the routes are academic year only. Forces faculty to drive in summer. (They don't have off)
