Reading abt the Chinese railway in Kenya--apparently the opening ceremony included a Kenyan orchestra performing Chinese patriotic music...

Without a doubt, though, my favorite aspect of this entire project is the uniforms: quasi-military, like Japan or China. USA, take note!pic.twitter.com/pJN4H0s9dY

They look more like pilots or airline stewardesses then soldiers to me but I guess that's a matter of perception.

The women's uniforms look more like airline uniforms, true, but I'd say the male uniforms *and* pilot's uniforms look sorta military

In this case China supplied 80% of the cost and (I think) did 100% of the construction. It's p much their railway, just in another country.

Was hoping
#traintwitter would catch on to this! Big news over here, also huge scam. Lots of graft and subpar train, but better than past -
Diesel train will probably fall apart in 5-10 yrs, and Kenyan taxpayers will b on the hook to pay inflated chinese debt for generations.
-
Kenyan Govt likes buying brand new shiny things with foreign money. Upkeep...not so much. Meanwhile the roads are still riddled w/ potholes
-
which is all a shame as I am very pro-train. A good rail system would revolutionize this country. I doubt it will happen though.
