branching lines like this is gonna play havoc with service frequency and severely constrain the number of destinations a given train reaches
I can understand branching lines where you're going to serve multiple destinations on each branch--but just for a stub to reach a city...
...that should be on-the-way to begin with? just silly
London -> Birmingham -> Manchester
London -> Birmingham OR Manchester
no need to have dead-end city terminals unless you have serious geographic constraints--Birmingham, Manchester should be thru-stations
